Common FAQ's About Botox® and Dysport® Cosmetic

Normally a topical numbing agent is applied to the skin in the area being treated to minimize any form of discomfort that may be experienced during the treatment. Depending on the
number of areas being treated, the procedure can take about 15 minutes or less.
The Botox works by invoking temporary paralysis of the muscles that induce wrinkling,
providing a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

After the Botox treatment there are very minimal side effects which fade away rather quickly. There may be slight swelling, bruising, tenderness and even a little redness at the injection site, which is sometimes expected after treatment, yet heals quickly. Patients usually resume their daily routines immediately after receiving treatment.

Botox results vary amongst patients, but treatment normally lasts 3-4 months. First time patients may notice that their first set of treatment results may not last as long however after the second treatment the results tend to last longer.

Avoid any exercise for at least 3 hours after treatment.
No facials or head massages for 24 hours.
Avoid laying down for at least 3 hours after treatment.
Avoid saunas, hot tubs or tanning booths for at least 4 hours after treatment.

Generally, there is very minimal discomfort when receiving any Botox treatment. Normally, a local anesthetic or cold compress is used to numb the areas being treated to decrease the overall level of discomfort during the procedure.
