How Long Does a Candela GentleMax Pro Laser Treatment Take?

Normally, the laser treatment is carried out in the practitioner’s office using the necessary tools provided. The process can last anywhere from a few minutes to up to an hour all depending on the treatment being given during that particular session.

What Should I Expect From This Treatment? Does It Hurt?

For most patients the pain and discomfort is minimal, however there are some patients that experience some discomfort with each laser pulse. The discomfort is said to be comparative to the stinging sensation of an elastic band against the skin. In some cases a topical anesthetic is applied to the target area before the treatment is administered. The amount of treatment sessions needed depends on the condition and severity of the area being treated and in the case of hair removal, multiple sessions are needed to achieve the desired results.

It is important to take into consideration the necessary precautions prior to beginning treatment. It is recommended that hair plucking, electrolysis and waxing be avoided for six weeks prior to receiving the treatment. When preparing for immediate treatment, the skin should be shaved and cleansed thoroughly of all oils, makeup, lotion and creams. The area being treated should not be exposed to any tanning or direct sunlight.

Things to Consider

Additionally, it is also important to be aware of the possible side effects associated with the treatment most of which–if experienced– will go away within a few days of treatment. The side effects may include swelling, redness, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and bruising at the treated area

What To Do After Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Immediately following the treatment, patients must wear SPF 30 to prevent exposure from the sun. Our practitioners will further advise you of the precautions to take based on the treatment that was administered. However, a few standard precautions to be mindful of is within the first few days after treatment: avoid scrubbing or rinsing the skin with abrasive cleansers to avoid any possible irritation.
